AboutSummit of Mt. Matterhorn
The Summit of Mt. Matterhorn, as part of the “Swissopolis” project, turned out to be a great challenge for our team—the sheer size of the most famous mountain of the Alps was a problem. With its over 4700 metres (15,000 ft) high summit, we built the mountain in a 1:6 scale in Second Life®, using accurate data from scientific measurements. Virtual mount Matterhorn is the highest natural point on the whole Second Life® Grid that is accessible on foot—786 meters (2,500 ft) high. Made of five accurately sculpted prims it is today the Swiss project’s impressive landmark.
